Back & White

We still think black & white is a truly valid medium and form. While many in the art world consider it boxed within a “romantic” corner, at Black Point we’ve decided to push black & white printing technology into the digital age. Starting in 2004, we began running dual-quadtone grayscale ink through our printers. Eventually we added a K7 (seven shades of gray) printer to the mix giving us tonal control way beyond that of a silver darkroom. Now we are (and will be) experimenting with all sorts of color and grayscale ink profiling technology and support. We will extend this form of artistic expression up to 64″ wide and beyond. There are so many interesting things happening in the world of monochromatic printing and we are dedicated to staying on that ship. With new gloss-overlay printing techniques and resin-coated K7 pigment ink available, coupled with Harman Fiber Gloss paper, we can soon pull massive gloss prints with zero edge bronzing and zero metamerism. The possibilities are beyond what can be done at top custom silver labs the world over.
